- Hotel Rwanda walks the viewer through a dark three months in human history. One where 85% of the population of a country, Hutus, seek to purge 14% of the rest, Tutsis. The Twa tribe represents 1% and are somehow excluded from the murderous rampage. The history goes back decades. It includes a period during Belgian colonization where the Tutsis were utilized by the foreign opportunists to repress the majority Hutus. April through July1994, after the staged assassination by Hutu military elements of the President, Juv'enal Habyarimana, over one million Rwandas, mostly Tutsis, are massacred.
